the email registered at http://www.search-line.co.uk/ is now dead after 4 years.

Other than http://www.ukbirth-adoptionregister.com/, which seems to be dead,
is there anywhere else they and I might try.

Too many to list really

Where are you and where are they (county or area)?

AAA-Norcap probably still has the largest register

Hello Robin - still here! :}

I'm in the UK. Things are getting complicated.

I found out last week that I had a sister and she is on
http://www.ukbirth-adoptionregister.com/ but that site
appears dead (I won't go into what I think about that!)

Another message found on www.search-line.co.uk for 2005 by my
brother who I didn't know existed and I responded; the site admin sent
me the contact email but that addy is dead. Apparently the original message
was posted by my sister using another name (forename+***@aol).
I've since responded and left messages of my own - 4 years too late :{

I posted a message on www.missing-you.net and a lady kindly alerted me
to another message left on the community pages of Genes Reunited back
in 2004 by someone new (name wise) who is my sister but to reply to that
message would cost nearly £10 - 5 years down the road and another dead
email address?

My message at www.missing-you.net is being returned by Google so at
least my presence is out there :}

AAA-Norcap would like to take £15 and the Adoption Contact Register at the
General Register Office would like another £15 - the latter, I have read, is not
very efficient at making matches; it's all money that one can ill afford to cough-up
and especially if my siblings are not registered with either register.

Perhaps it's just a question of sitting back and waiting - not in my nature!

The UK is 4 different countries with 4 different sets of laws and
regulations and all split up in to umpteen different counties each with
their own local policies on what they will do or not do to help with post
adoption issues (why I asked which county or area)

If you know what the present day names of the people that left the messages
are, it shouldn't be a problem tracing them very easily. If you don't then
that's another matter

Knowing the current names of the sibs on my father's side (and that took a
heck of a lot of work) it's been fairly easy to work out where they are now
by using Friends Reunited, Genes Reunited and pay to use sites that have the
Birth, Marriage & Death Indexes and the current Electoral Registers

And yes, I'm still here, but only on the rare occasions when aioe.org's NNTP

Thanks for your comments Robin

I've now made contact with my sister. Going to be strange after 51 years.

The internet does have its uses :)
