With the ever increasing media interest in adoption could this ever
happen here in the UK I wonder?

From http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,15527,00.html?tnews

".... Fox announced Tuesday it will ring in the new year with a heart
warming, 90-minute special in which a woman, put up for adoption as an
infant, quizzes eight men in the hopes of determining which is her
biological father. If she's right, she wins a reunion and $100,000. If
she's wrong, she still gets to meet her father, but the guy she
incorrectly pegged as her parent wins the cash...."

Let's hope not!

Meanwhile back home, the Tuesday 4 January edition of TV quick will be
carrying a 'real life' story of a In the member. So I'm told by
NORCAP, This is in connection with the two Testimony films programmes
being re-shown as part of the South Bank Show in January under the title
'Love Child' . No one seems to know yet exactly when that will air, I'll
let everyone know when I find out.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone seen a movie called "The Other Mother". I
noticed it mentioned on American newsgroups years ago and at the time I
tried to scrounge a copy from somewhere with no luck. I thought it may have
been made up by some group like Bastard Nation but I could be wrong.

I think it's a 1995 made for TV adaptation by Frances Fisher (NBC) of Carol
Schaeffer's book of the same title. I can't recall ever having seen it on
British TV.

This is the Amazon page for the book

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0939149753/102-9469119-6516150?v=glance

Can't find anything about the film except the few words paraphrased above from
Bastard Nation's website.

I am told:

"The programme 'Love Child' is to be broadcast on ITV1 on January 9
and 16 at 23.15. It is a two-part documentary series, which examines
the social history of adoption in 20^th century Britain through
people’s personal stories about their experiences. It has been made by
Testimony Films."
